For The Love Of Markers

Azile Marker art

Markers have certainly evolved since I first used Crayolas as a child. I fondly remember my first set of markers. I also remember the devastation I felt when they dried out.  As time passed my art evolved.  Occasionally I would use my Micron pens, but markers were mainly used to decorate handmade cards or packages. I seldom created art with them.

The more I delved into digital art, the more I longed to return to organic art.  Illustrating books, creating book covers as well as the advertisements and book trailers thereof left little time to do so. I could make a few smaller paintings, but drying time and such delayed any true sense of gratification. My graphite sketches and Micron ink drawings seemingly lacked. Then…. I discovered ….. Chameleon Pens.  I believe I first saw the video on Facebook.  No doubt my bestie had tagged me in the post.  It seems when a new art product arrives I am always tagged about it.  If only I had the luxury and wealth to buy these items. I remember sharing the post with my husband.  The idea of blending markers and one marker providing seemingly limitless colors was simply awesome to us.

Then came Valentine’s Day. My darling husband surprised me with the 22 box set. The rest of the available colors came shortly thereafter as an Easter surprise.

I never thought I would enjoy markers again.  But I love these! They make creating art as fun as I remembered it. I have many other top brands of markers as well, but I always seem to go back to my Chameleon pens. They flow beautifully.

Flight Of Colors Marker Art

It has not become my favorite late evening activity. I doodle with my Chameleon pens.  It is a welcomed break from the digital monotony that has become my world amidst illustrating children’s books!

Alaska Marker Art

I still paint, wood burn, sculpt, sketch, and draw using ink, of course.  However, the ease and instant gratification from using the Chameleon pens are wonderful.  I have enough time after work and preparing my family dinner to actually complete a piece of art.  Nothing compares to waking up the next day and seeing my doodle sitting there. Even if it isn’t perfect, I feel better knowing it is complete and I feel accomplished.

Chibis and Washitape

Washi Tape….I had never heard of this stuff…then I saw someone post art using it. I fell in love. I have always loved crafts as well as art.  Combining the two is perhaps one of my most favorite things to do! So I dove straight in!

It started out innocent enough, my husband brought home 5 rolls.  After I created Polka however, a beast inside me took over……we headed straight for Michael’s and Hobby Lobby.  I simply could not believe my eyes! Mind you now, this tape had ALWAYS been there.  I never gave it a second notice before. But now, now all things had changed.  They may as well have been giant cupcakes or gold bars.  I was mesmerized.

We left the stores with 28 more rolls and an organizer, which subsequently only holds half of what I acquired. My mind was full of ideas!

I already saw many chibis out there and loved how the cuteness looked.  So I decided to try my washitape art on chibis. At this time, I was also beginning my Disney Princess Fan art series.  I decided I may as well make those Chibis too!

I am not sure what else I will do next but I am having a great deal of fun with these!

Drawn for one of my best friend’s birthday.

I think fairies may be my absolute favorite subject to draw.  I have always admired art that contained them. I do believe I have more art that I have done containing fairies than anything else.

Apologia Educational Ministries, How To Homeschool (A Review)

Reviewing

How to HOMESCHOOL with Stunning Confidence, Contagious Joy, and Amazing Focus (DVD & Coursebook)

From

Apologia Educational Ministries

Today, I will be reviewing How to HOMESCHOOL with Stunning Confidence, Contagious Joy, and Amazing Focus (DVD & Coursebook) from Apologia Educational Ministries. I must say before I start, I was extremely grateful to receive this to review, as we already love Apologia. My daughter, Kira, has completed their Exploring Creation with Chemistry and Physics, and is just about to begin their Exploring Creation with Physical Science.

A non secular view into how to homeschool with Leslie Nunnery and Racheal Carman, who together bring 27 years combined homeschool experience! How to HOMESCHOOL with Stunning Confidence, Contagious Joy, and Amazing Focus (DVD & Coursebook)  from Apologia Educational Ministries  provides immeasurable insight and knowledge for new or seasoned homeschool parents.

Although I myself have been a homeschool mom for almost 10 years now, I learned several things I did not know while watching the informative DVDs and using the wonderful coursebook.

The coursebook provided with How to HOMESCHOOL with Stunning Confidence, Contagious Joy, and Amazing Focus (DVD & Coursebook) from Apologia Educational Ministries is a wonderful tool. The note areas and assignments help guide you on your homeschool journey.  I only wish I would have had this prior to beginning my own homeschool journey back in 2008! Virtually any question you may come up with as a homeschool parent is addressed in this wonderful How to HOMESCHOOL with Stunning Confidence, Contagious Joy, and Amazing Focus (DVD & Coursebook) from Apologia Educational Ministries! I know many of my scariest moments of the past were addressed in this DVD.  I sure could have used their advice in those days!

Think of this almost as a non secular The View (talk show) type series, where Rachael Carman and Leslie Nunnery speak openly and frankly as to the ins and outs on homeschool education.  The good, the bad, and the amazing aspects that you can expect and enjoy throughout your own homeschool adventures!

Although I wish I had found this sooner, I believe I received this in perfect time, as we are just about to prepare for high school in our own homeschool here.   It is scary and exciting simultaneously.  The insight provided in How to HOMESCHOOL with Stunning Confidence, Contagious Joy, and Amazing Focus (DVD & Coursebook) from Apologia Educational Ministries from Rachael and Leslie is simply immeasurable. They have addressed, as well as have quelled, my fears.  I believe all homeschool Moms face their task with a healthy dose of fear.  We all question if we are making the right choices for our children and for their future.

The DVD segments are split up perfectly.  They are timed short enough that even the busiest of homeschool parents is able to watch. I personally enjoyed the segments daily with my coffee.  The coursebook made it easy to jot my notes down.  The assignments, also, for me personally, provided reaffirmation of why I even began homeschooling my daughter in the first place! I think as we move forward we can get into a rut, or perhaps lose focus along the way.  I am grateful for How to HOMESCHOOL with Stunning Confidence, Contagious Joy, and Amazing Focus (DVD & Coursebook) from Apologia Educational Ministries, as it has helped me retain my initial focus and not lose sight of the true meaning of homeschool for my family.

I highly recommend How to HOMESCHOOL with Stunning Confidence, Contagious Joy, and Amazing Focus (DVD & Coursebook) from Apologia Educational Ministries to all homeschool families.  Whether you are just starting out, or are in the final years of your homeschool, it is a valuable resource!

Next we are looking forward to Internship for High School Credit from  Apologia Educational Ministries ! I still cannot believe Kira is almost ready for high school guys!!!!

For The Love of Earth

Spartacus

Instead of talking only about myself and my art, this time I would like to remind everyone that today is World Environment Day. There is a wonderful website designed for it, which I highly recommend everyone read and join. http://worldenvironmentday.global/

As far as I know, right now our environment is the only one we have.  I would like to believe my great-grandchildren will be able to enjoy it, and all it has to offer. That, of course, is up to us to ensure.  Little changes we make can make a big difference.  Recycling is easier than most people think.  It becomes a habit.

I took the above photograph while visiting the Cedar Lake Gardens Festival in Williston, Florida a short time ago. It is a photographer’s dream! I was not able to capture all of the moments I wanted to, as it was extremely crowded for the festival.  I look forward to a return visit soon. This fella was the only animal on display, I am assuming as a guest.  Spartacus, an  African Spurred Tortoise, was quite large. Why did I choose him for this post? Well, you see, this environment of ours affects not only us.  The wildlife around us all call this home too. It truly is our responsibility to make smart choices. This world of ours is absolutely beautiful, as are all of its inhabitants.  Whether you believe in global warming or not, taking care of this planet and all she provides is essential. You would not let your home fall apart….why would you let your planet?
